Privacy Policy

1. What data does Job Copilot store?

Job Copilot stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in local storage (chrome.storage.local):

• Your resume / CV text
• Your name and email address (if provided)
• Your AI provider API key (encrypted in local storage)
• Your application tracker entries (company, role, status)
• Saved cold outreach message templates
• Last generated resume, cover letter, and outreach messages

This data is stored only on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers because we do not have any servers.

2. What data is sent to third parties?

When you click "Generate" in Job Copilot, the following data is sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider's API:

• Your resume text (to generate tailored output)
• The job description from the page you're on
• The prompt instructions built into the extension

This data goes directly to the AI provider you selected (Google Gemini, Mistral, OpenAI, xAI, Cohere, or Anthropic). Job Copilot acts only as a bridge — we never see, store, or log this data.

3. Do you collect analytics or usage data?

No. Job Copilot does not include any analytics, tracking scripts, or telemetry of any kind. We do not know how many people use the extension, what features they use, or anything else.

4. Do you use cookies?

No. Job Copilot does not use cookies.

5. What permissions does the extension require and why?

• storage — To save your resume, settings, and application tracker locally in your browser.
• activeTab — To read the job description from the job listing page you currently have open.
• scripting — To extract job details (company name, role, description) from supported job sites.
• Host permissions for job sites — To run the content script that detects job details on LinkedIn, Naukri, Indeed, Internshala, Glassdoor, and Wellfound.

6. Is my API key safe?

Your API key is stored in Chrome's local storage on your device only. It is sent directly to the respective AI provider's API when making requests — the same way you would use it yourself in any app. We never see your API key.

We recommend using API keys with usage limits set in your provider's dashboard for extra safety.

7. Can I delete my data?

Yes, at any time. You can:

• Clear individual fields within the extension settings
• Go to chrome://extensions → Job Copilot → Clear site data to wipe all stored data
• Uninstall the extension — all local data is permanently deleted

8. Children's privacy

Job Copilot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
